Overview

The BSc in Midwifery program at Delexes Institute of Science and Technology is dedicated to training skilled, ethical, and compassionate midwives who are ready to improve maternal and neonatal outcomes in Ghana and beyond. This program combines foundational sciences, intensive clinical experience, and leadership development to prepare students for licensure and impactful careers.

What You’ll Study

A full-time, four-year program delivered over 8 semesters, blending classroom theory with clinical experience.

Anatomy and Physiology
Fundamentals of Midwifery
Antenatal and Postnatal Care
Pharmacology in Obstetrics
Labour and Delivery Techniques
Family Planning and Reproductive Health
Neonatal Care and Pediatric First Aid
Midwifery Ethics and Professional Conduct
Health Promotion and Disease Prevention
Community Midwifery Outreach

Clinical Training

Clinical practice begins in early semesters at accredited hospitals and maternity units across Ghana. Students rotate through labor wards, antenatal clinics, pediatric units, and rural outreach programs under professional supervision.

Entry Requirements

WASSCE/SSCE Applicants:

Core Subjects: English, Mathematics, Integrated Science, Social Studies.
Electives (Any three): Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Elective Math, Home Economics, Management in Living, CRS, Literature in English, French, Economics, or Agric Science.

Diploma Holders:

Diploma in Nursing with a GPA of 3.25 or higher
May enter at Level 200 or 300 after a selection interview

Mature Applicants:

Must have a nursing qualification (e.g. SRN, RM, RMN, RCN)
Pass the Mature Students’ Entrance Exam
Must have credit in English and Mathematics

International Students:

Must provide equivalent qualifications and proof of English proficiency.
Must meet standards set by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) and the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
